A Wake-Up Call from a Government Office in Borivali
By Vivid Vision Monica Jain
The other day, we went for stamp duty and property registration at a government office in Borivali. As we reached the building, it was hard to believe it was functional. The structure looked abandoned—old, worn-out, and neglected.
As we climbed up to the first floor, we were hit by a terrible stench coming from the nearby washroom. It was so bad, we could barely breathe. Imagine hundreds of people—men, women, senior citizens—having to stand in long queues in such conditions. It felt like a scene from a place no one cared about.
And yet, here we were—citizens who pay taxes year after year, investing in homes worth lakhs and crores. Is this what we get in return?
But it’s not just about us, the clients.
What about the government staff? These officers report every morning, work tirelessly from Monday to Saturday, helping us complete our registrations. They deserve our respect—and a safe, clean working environment. But what do they get?
No proper washroom.
No clean seating area.
No comfort. No dignity.
Why are we okay with this?
Isn’t it time we asked—where is our tax money going?
Don’t we all—citizens and government workers alike—deserve better infrastructure?
We all dream of a better home, but how can that dream feel positive when the process to achieve it is so negative?
Let’s shout this out loud—not in anger, but in hope for change.
This was at Borivali. But the problem runs across Mumbai. Maybe across India.
It’s time for our voices to be heard.
Do you agree that government officers and citizens deserve better public office conditions?
