STOP. BEFORE YOU BLAME THE EXAMINATION SYSTEM, ANSWER THIS ONE QUESTION.

Before you blame the examination system…

Before you blame the government…

Before you blame the paper leak…

Before you blame the coaching institutes…

Pause.

Ask yourself one question.

Who taught our children that one examination is bigger than their life?

Because whoever taught them that… is equally responsible.

Every time an examination is postponed…

Every time a paper is leaked…

Every time uncertainty surrounds the future of thousands of students…

The country demands accountability.

And it should.

Examinations must be fair.

Systems must be transparent.

Those responsible must be held accountable.

But while we are busy fixing the system…

Who is fixing the child?

The biggest leak in our education system is not the paper.

It is the slow leak of hope from the hearts of our children.

Somewhere along the way…

We stopped raising children.

We started manufacturing ranks.

We stopped celebrating curiosity.

We started worshipping percentages.

We stopped asking,

“How are you?”

And started asking,

“How much did you score?”

No child is born believing that one examination decides their worth.

We teach it.

Through comparisons.

Through expectations.

Through pressure.

Through silence.

We teach children Mathematics.

Science.

Artificial Intelligence.

Coding.

Robotics.

Foreign Languages.

But tell me…

Who teaches them what to do when life becomes unfair?

Who teaches them that hard work does not always guarantee immediate success?

Who teaches them how to process failure?

How to manage anxiety?

How to recover from rejection?

How to ask for help without shame?

How to begin again?

Here is the irony.

Every school conducts…

✅ Fire Drills.

✅ Earthquake Drills.

✅ Evacuation Drills.

But almost no school conducts a…

Failure Drill.

Imagine if every child, from Grade 1 onwards, learnt:

“What if I fail?”

“What if the exam gets cancelled?”

“What if life doesn’t go according to plan?”

“What if I disappoint myself?”

“What if I have to begin again?”

These are not negative thoughts.

These are life skills.

And life skills save lives.

Parents…

Your child is not asking for perfection.

Your child is asking for psychological safety.

They need to know that if they fail…

They will still come home to love.

Not comparison.

Not disappointment.

Love.

Teachers…

Children may forget your lessons.

They will never forget how you made them feel.

One sentence from a teacher can become a child’s greatest source of confidence.

Or their deepest wound.

Choose your words carefully.

School Leaders…

Mental wellbeing is not an annual awareness programme.

It is not a poster on Mental Health Day.

It is education.

It deserves the same importance as Mathematics and Science.

Policymakers…

The next education reform should not begin with another examination policy.

It should begin with one compulsory period every week dedicated to emotional resilience.

Teach children:

• How to deal with uncertainty.

• How to process failure.

• How to manage anxiety.

• How to ask for help.

• How to support a friend in distress.

• How to rebuild after disappointment.

If we can prepare children for competitive exams…

Surely we can prepare them for life.

This is not only a students’ issue.

It is a parenting issue.

A teaching issue.

A school leadership issue.

A policy issue.

A societal issue.

We all have a role to play.

My Appeal

To every school, college, coaching institute, board, university, policymaker, parent, and teacher:

Make Emotional Resilience a compulsory subject.

Not after another tragedy.

Not after another headline.

Not after we lose another young life to silence, pressure, or despair.

Now.

Because every time we delay this conversation, we are not just postponing reform—

we are postponing protection.

We are telling children, indirectly, that they must learn to survive life on their own, without being taught how.

And that is not education.

That is abandonment.

Let us be clear about what we are asking for.

We are not asking schools to reduce ambition.

We are not asking students to stop striving.

We are not asking for an easier system.

We are asking for a complete education system—one that builds minds strong enough to handle success and failure.

A system where every child learns:

• You are not your rank.

• You are not your marks.

• You are not your worst day.

• And you are never alone in your struggle.

Because if education cannot teach a child how to stand back up after falling…

Then it has only taught them how to fear the fall.

And fear is not learning.

Fear is survival without support.

So let this be the turning point.

Let every classroom become a place where children are not only prepared to compete…

But also prepared to cope.

Let every school become a place where failure is not feared…

But understood.

Let every child grow up knowing this one truth:

“Life will not always go as planned—but I will always have the strength to continue.”

And if we can give them that strength…

Then we will not just be educating students.

We will be safeguarding futures.

We will be protecting hope.

We will be saving lives.

Before we measure how well a child performs in life…

Let us first ensure they know how to live through it.

If this article made you pause, don’t just scroll away.

Start one conversation today.

With your child.

With your students.

With your school.

With another parent.

Real change doesn’t always begin in Parliament or a policy document.

Sometimes, it begins at a dining table.
Sometimes, in a classroom.
Sometimes, with one teacher.
Sometimes, with one parent who chooses to ask,

“How are you?” instead of “How many marks did you get?”

If this message resonates with you, please share it.

Not because it is my story.

But because it could become someone else’s turning point.

Let’s build an education system that doesn’t just create successful students…

It creates resilient human beings.
